I've been a North Carolina basketball fan for about as long as I can remember. You're probably thinking, "you and everyone else in this country," but I was actually a fan of UNC long before I knew anything about basketball. Okay, that's actually not true. What I'm trying to say is, the reason I love the Tar Heels actually coincides with my love for baby blue, the color they wear. When I was little I dreamed of going to North Carolina not because of their academics or athletics, but strictly because I really wanted a sweatshirt from there.
Anyway, as you all know, the No. 3 Tar Heels defeated their rival, No. 5 Duke, last night by a score of 101-87. The first half was a back and forth battle but the Heels pretty much "pwned" the Blue Devils in the second half.
While Lawson lit it up for the Heels on the court with a game-high 25 points, what really interested me about the game was the fact that it was the fourth straight time the Blue Devils lost to the Tar Heels at home. Translation: Tyler Hansbrough and his classmates are 4-0 at Cameron Indoor Stadium. That is not an easy task.
Another interesting tidbit, during the game the announcers mentioned that J.J. Reddick, a Duke alum currently playing for the Orlando Magic, called Hansbrough to wish him luck in the game. Now, don't get me wrong I love a heated rivalry (duh, I'm a Yankee fan), but there's nothing I love more than sportsmanship.
That is all.
